5/8 Horstator Straight Razor, Solingen

This is a good razor made by Horstator in Solingen, Germany.  It is a used but comparatively new item with very little wear indeed - in near mint condition.  I have honed several of these razors for customers and have found that they take a very good edge indeed - this one is no exception.

The blade is in extremely good condition with just the lightest signs of age.  It has a good factory mirror polish throughout.  There are no splits, cracks, nibbles or dings to the edge of the blade!

It is a carbon steel blade with a full hollow grind and a round point.  The cutting part of the blade measures about 2.75 inches long, the overall blade length is just over 5.5 inches and the width is a full 5/8th inches.  The edge has been highly polished and is very sharp indeed - it passes the so-called Hanging Hair Test and is shave-ready.

The scales are the originals, synthetic, with a silver metal inlay.  The pinning is all original.  Everything has been thoroughly cleaned and sterilised.

The pinning is nice and firm and the blade stays where it is left and does not flop around. 

The blade sits between the scales without fouling them.

This razor comes with its proper plastic box.
