Dovo Red & Black Strop Paste

This small box (40mm x 30mm x 15mm) contains two foil wrapped bars of strop paste: one is black paste, the other is red paste.  Each is used on a strop or a paddle reserved for that purpose.

A small pea-shaped bead of one paste is worked into the strops surface with the ball of the thumb or with a scrap piece of cloth, being careful not to overload the surface of the strop - this will only result in the paste balling/beading up and being redeposited in clumps.  Carefully spread the bars, although very small, will go a long way.  Do not cross-contaminate the pastes - use one paste per strop (or one per side of a suitable strop) and wipe the blade before going to the finer paste.

The red paste is the coarser of the two and is only used when the razor begins to feel a bit dull.

The black paste is a very fine polisher and is used on its own or after the red paste - it imparts a mirror shine to the bevel as well as finishing off afther red paste.
