This is one of the much sought-after Gillette "Fat Boy" safety razors that are increasingly hard to find.  There seem to be plenty in america, but why risk paying the same again in customs charges as you paid for the razor, especially when UK customs base the fee on the item value AND the shipping cost plus a so-called processing fee! 

The amount of the blade exposed can be varied by the user by rotating the collar just under the head, which is marked 1 - 9 (even numbers are represented with a dot),  the least aggressive setting (and the one I suggest you try first - the high setting can make you skin sore if it is sensitive and produce 'weepers') being 1.  The razor is of the "TTO" type - meaning Twist To Open, you twist or rotate the sleeve at the bottom of the stem to open the butterfly doors in order to replace the blade.

This razor is in exceptionally good condition, nice clean and bright.  There is virtually no plating wear on the stem and sleeves and the numerals are black - not as dark as they were, but still quite dark.  The small setting indicator is still red.  The plating on the butterfly doors shows tiny dimples and some very light cosmetic scratches but is not worn through.  The doors open properly and the sleeve is easy to turn.  The setting collar clicks reassuringly into place.
